Me Love/D'yer Maker

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the chorus from Me Love sounds exactly like the chorus from Led Zeppelin's "D'yer Maker" on purpose, or was it accidental, or whatever. Maybe Zeppelin gaffed it from some old Reggae song (they were known to do that sorta thing now and then) or something, but it is pretty much identical. I hope it wasn't a ripoff that'll be covered up as "oh we've never heard it before"...but I'm just a dork.

I'm glad he gives credit for beats and passages. There's definitely a certain amount of borrowing that's acceptable in music. Some actual brilliant s*** has been done with samples, even. (Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique album, for example)

But what you said about if he stole it it wouldn't make it to the music world isn't exactly true. There's cases where songs were ripped off and they were still hits. The song My Sweet Lord by George Harrison was totally copied from an old R&B number from the 50s. Led Zeppelin stole many melodies and lyrics and riffs (Dazed and Confused)....so it does happen. But it's always cool to see credit given.

Yeah i agree with the 1st person who commented. Sean Kingston wouldn't be famous if he was 'stealing' other peoples beats it wouldnt be legal so he wouln't get anywhere! It is all compromised etc and if it was that identical it wouldnt even make it to the music world. Sean Kingston is the best <3 x

Right on. That's what I was wondering.

No it wasn't a rip off. If you have his cd, you can see that it says, "Me Love" derived from "Dy'er Mak'er" so he did give the man credit for the way Sean Kingston's song sounds now. That's what people need to understand. Sean Kingston does actually give credit to the people that he takes beats and stuff from. He doesn't just take them and leave it at that.
